What is the name of your business?

The Evolved All Female Gymn

How many clients do you have and what services do you offer?

With over 80 incredible members, The Evolved All Female Gym is more than a fitness facility—it’s a community. We specialize in Small Group Personal Training classes and 1:1 Personal Training, tailored to each woman’s unique goals. Beyond fitness, we offer Nutrition and Habit Coaching to empower women with the tools they need to thrive both inside and outside the gym

Can you tell us a bit about your journey—what inspired you to become a personal trainer, especially in women’s health?

My journey into personal training began with a deep desire to do something that truly helped people. I was first drawn to group fitness classes, where the choreography and creativity felt like a form of dance—a passion of mine. I loved watching people grow fitter with each class, their confidence building alongside their endurance. When I transitioned into personal training, I discovered an even deeper sense of fulfillment: witnessing women not only grow stronger physically but also transform their body shapes and embrace their power.

What’s the most rewarding part of your career as a female-specific personal trainer?

The most rewarding part of my career is watching a woman walk into the gym with little to no strength training experience and evolve into someone radiating confidence. Witnessing their journey—from uncertainty to strength, both physically and mentally—is incredibly fulfilling. It’s about so much more than fitness; it’s about helping women discover their potential and see just how powerful they truly are.

Were there any challenges you faced as a woman in the fitness industry, and how did you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges I faced as a woman in the fitness industry was navigating the lack of research focused on women. Most studies are conducted on men, leaving gaps in understanding how women respond to training, nutrition, and recovery. Through my own fitness and strength journey, I discovered key differences: I needed more sleep, a tailored approach to eating, and a recovery process that aligned with my body’s unique needs. These differences become even more critical for women navigating postpartum fitness. Overcoming these challenges meant educating myself, listening to my body, and advocating for a female-specific approach to training.

What advice would you give to women considering a career in fitness but feel uncertain about taking the first step?

My advice to women considering a career in fitness is simple: start slow and take it one step at a time. Begin by joining group fitness classes and immersing yourself in the environment. Experience the process firsthand by working with a coach—let them guide and educate you while you learn the value of being coached. This firsthand experience, combined with completing your Certificate III and IV in Fitness, will give you the foundation and confidence to begin your journey.

How do you stay motivated and maintain your passion for empowering other women through fitness?

Being in an all-female gym keeps me surrounded by inspiring women every day. The face-to-face training sessions, the transformations, and the community we’ve built constantly reignite my passion. I’m not just teaching fitness—I’m living it, alongside the women I empower. This daily environment fuels my motivation and strengthens my commitment to helping women unlock their full potential.

What’s one moment in your career that made you step back and think, “Wow, I’m really making a difference”?

One of the most powerful moments in my career came when I worked with a female client who was overwhelmed by stress, over-exercising, and struggling to reach her body shape and mental health goals. We took a deep dive together, uncovering layers of internal stress that had been holding her back. By stripping everything back and focusing on her well-being—starting with improving her sleep—everything began to shift. Not only did she achieve the body shape changes she desired, but her life transformed. She developed better relationships with her husband, her children, and, most importantly, herself. It was a profound reminder that true change is about more than just fitness—it’s about holistic health.

How do you tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of female clients, and why is this important?

I tailor my approach to each female client by meeting them exactly where they are in their journey. We start with small, manageable changes and ensure each one is fully integrated into their routine before moving on to the next. This approach builds lasting habits. I also emphasize the importance of recovery and align nutrition with exercise to support their body’s needs. This personalized, holistic approach ensures that women not only see results but also create sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

What do you think is the most important quality for a successful personal trainer to have?

The most important quality for a successful personal trainer is dedication. In the beginning, make yourself as available as possible—pay your dues by shadowing experienced trainers and absorbing all the knowledge you can. This hands-on learning will pay off in the long run. Be open to mentorship from seasoned trainers who are thriving in the industry and be willing to embrace constructive criticism. You will make mistakes, but the key is to learn from them, not make excuses. The most successful trainers are those who constantly strive to improve. And remember, a great attitude and personality are invaluable. Building strong relationships with clients and connecting with industry leaders will take you far.

If you could go back and give one piece of advice to yourself at the start of your journey, what would it be?

If I could go back to the start of my journey, I’d tell myself to have more faith in my abilities. I was always suited for this role, but I lacked the confidence to fully embrace all that it entailed. Trusting myself more from the beginning would have made a world of difference in stepping into my true potential as a personal trainer.

What book and podcasts would you recommend every trainer should read or listen to?  Are there any particular coaches/influencers or experts that you recommend people follow?

For any trainer looking to level up, I highly recommend Relentless by Tim Grover and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* by Mark Manson. Both books provide invaluable insights on mental toughness and mindset. I also suggest following Dr. Paul Cribb and Sharlene Sault for expert guidance, as well as Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, who focuses on muscle-centric health. Her program, Forever Strong, is a must-follow for anyone looking to understand the science of building strength and longevity. These resources will keep you informed, inspired, and ready to empower your clients.

What CEC course/s do you recommend every PT should do?

I studied nutrition with Metabolic Precision, although they no longer offer certifications. However, I highly recommend continuing your education in both nutrition and exercise. Deepen your knowledge in the areas that you’re passionate about, whether that’s women’s health, strength training, or any other fitness niche. Ongoing learning and specialization will not only set you apart but also allow you to provide the best possible service to your clients.
