From Corporate to Coach: Tia’s Holistic Approach to Women’s Fitness

Stepping into the fitness industry can feel overwhelming, especially for women navigating career demands, personal wellness, and a desire to make a real impact. In this episode of the Women’s Fitness Education Podcast, we sit down with Tia, the inspiring founder of the True Wellness Transformation Project, to explore how she’s carved out a successful coaching business while still working a 9-to-5 job. From fitness comps to online entrepreneurship, Tia’s story is packed with lessons on resilience, growth, and the power of coaching with heart.

Building a Fitness Career on Her Own Terms

Tia’s journey into fitness wasn’t born in a gym—it started at a women in tech event. She and a friend created a blog to explore getting abs and staying fit, but what began as a hobby turned into a serious passion after Tia discovered bodybuilding competitions online. That curiosity led her to the stage, and soon after, to getting certified in fitness instruction.

“I was only planning to do my Cert III to run group classes,” she recalls. “But once I started the journey, I realized one-on-one coaching was a better fit for me.”

Her early days in fitness were about aesthetics, but Tia quickly realized sustainable results required more. Over time, she evolved her approach to include not just training and form but nutrition, habits, and mindset. This transformation laid the foundation for her signature coaching model.

Juggling a 9–5 and a Thriving Coaching Business

Today, Tia balances a full-time job in corporate marketing with her after-hours coaching business. “From 5 to 9, I’m in coach mode,” she says. That structure led her to adopt efficient, tech-supported systems for online coaching. Tools like customized training apps and group chats helped her maintain high-touch support for clients while managing her schedule.

Making the shift from in-person to online wasn’t easy, but hiring a business coach made all the difference. “It’s just like coaching in fitness—you can trial and error for years or get someone to help you fast-track your success.”

Serving High-Achieving Women With a Holistic Approach

Tia’s niche is women over 35 who work full-time and often struggle to prioritize their health. Many of her clients have been trying to transform their bodies for years with little success—until they come into her program. That’s where her signature framework of mindset, habits, nutrition, and training comes in.

“Most people think it’s just about the food and workouts, but if your mindset and habits aren’t aligned, you’ll sabotage your progress every time,” she explains.

She also brings her own experience with burnout into her coaching. After going through it herself, she’s more attuned to the signs and stressors her clients face. “It helped me understand what my clients might be feeling and gave me better strategies to support them.”

Creating a Powerful Community

One of the most unexpected joys in Tia’s business has been the community she’s built. Clients connect through a private group where they share struggles, wins, and life updates. Some even meet in person for dinners or movie nights.

“When women realize they’re not alone in what they’re going through, they feel empowered to keep going. The group dynamic has added something really special.”

Advice for Aspiring Coaches

Tia encourages women to explore fitness coaching if they feel called to it—even if it’s just to learn more or help themselves. “If you love fitness and want to help others, don’t overthink it. You can start in-person, go online, do it part-time—there’s no one right way.”

She also stresses the importance of education and leading by example. “Even if you’re already fit and sharing content online, getting qualified ensures you’re giving safe, credible advice.”

Looking Back and Moving Forward

If she could give her younger self advice, it would be to embrace visibility earlier and explore the online space sooner. But ultimately, Tia has no regrets. “Every decision I made taught me something and moved me forward.”

Her mission now? To help more women achieve real transformation—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. As she puts it: “When women feel empowered in their health, it impacts every area of their lives. That’s the real transformation.

Tia’s journey is proof that following your passion doesn't have to mean abandoning stability or sacrificing purpose. With intention, education, and the right tools, you can build a fulfilling career that fits your lifestyle—and helps others transform theirs. Whether you're already in the fitness industry or just considering your first steps, let Tia’s insights remind you that your story, your strengths, and your support system can create something truly powerful
