Dream It, Dance It, Do It: The Story of the “I KANN Queen”
When you meet Karys Ann, it’s hard not to be inspired by her energy. Known as the “I KANN Queen”, she’s a certified international law of attraction and empowerment coach, motivational speaker, and ambassador for Turned Up Fitness—an energizing female empowerment dance program taking off in Australia and New Zealand.
But her journey to becoming a leader in women’s empowerment didn’t begin with confidence. It began with a dance class.

Finding Herself Again Through Dance
Originally from Wales, Karys Ann admits she once struggled with self-confidence, body image, and sticking to a workout routine. “I was a yo-yo dieter, a yo-yo exerciser. I never enjoyed the gym,” she says.
What she did love was dancing. With a background in musical theatre, movement had always been in her blood. So, when she attended her first Turned Up Fitness class in Cardiff six years ago, something shifted.
“From that very first class, I knew I had to teach this program,” she recalls. “It lit something up inside me that I hadn’t felt since I was a child.”
Within months, she had trained as an instructor, qualified as a master trainer, and taken Turned Up Fitness with her to Australia. Today, she’s trained nine women across Australia and New Zealand to become instructors themselves—helping the program spread from Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and beyond.
What Is Turned Up Fitness?
Turned Up Fitness is no ordinary workout. It’s a high-energy, hit-based dance fitness class set to R&B, dancehall, hip hop, and pop music.
“Imagine dancing like you’re in an MTV music video—but with a full-body workout,” Karys Ann explains. “It’s a mix of Zumba and choreographed dance, but sassier and more empowering.”
Classes are held in dark, disco-like rooms, designed to feel like a night out—without the hangover. Beginners and experienced dancers alike are welcome. “Even if you’ve got two left feet, it doesn’t matter. It’s about letting your hair down, stepping into your inner Beyoncé, and leaving class feeling electric.”
From Movement to Mindset: Coaching Women Worldwide
Alongside her work with Turned Up Fitness, Karys Ann is also passionate about helping women through her law of attraction and empowerment coaching.
The philosophy? Your thoughts create your reality.
Before discovering this, she says she was “a deep worrier” with constant health anxiety. Learning how to shift her mindset changed everything—and now she helps other women do the same.
She works particularly with expats, supporting women who’ve moved countries and found themselves feeling lost or disconnected. “We often leave to find ourselves, but end up losing our identity,” she says. “My role is to help women reconnect to their dreams, rebuild confidence, and create a life that excites them.”
Her coaching blends mindset, manifestation, and empowerment strategies—often leading to remarkable transformations. One client went from suffering panic attacks in her first dance class to now confidently leading classes of 25 women. Another, who once felt stuck in her job, completed her Certificate III & IV in Fitness, became a mindset coach herself, and is now launching her own business.
Overcoming Challenges: Lessons in Confidence
Of course, the road hasn’t always been smooth. Like many instructors and coaches, Karys Ann has faced challenges—empty classes, imposter syndrome, and fear of putting herself out there.
“There were times no one turned up to class,” she admits. “But I realised it wasn’t a failure—it was a lesson. Usually, it was because I hadn’t promoted enough or my energy wasn’t aligned.”
As for coaching, she says the biggest hurdle was believing she was “enough.” “I procrastinated for weeks before calling myself a coach. I worried what people would think. But nobody wants a perfect coach—they want someone real, relatable, and authentic.”

Advice for Women Considering a Career or Life Change
When asked what she’d say to any woman thinking about a new career path—whether in fitness or something entirely different—her answer was simple:
“Clarity comes from action. Start small, take imperfect steps, and see where it leads. If the thought has been in your mind for a while, it’s there for a reason.”
She encourages women to trust their intuition, follow the nudges, and not let fear stop them. “Your dream isn’t random—it’s meant for you.”
Lighting Women Up From the Inside Out
Whether through dance, coaching, or public speaking, Karys Ann’s mission is clear: to empower women to rediscover their spark, step into their confidence, and chase the dreams they may have lost along the way.
As she puts it: “I love reigniting that childhood version of women—the one who dreamed big, believed anything was possible, and felt unstoppable. That’s where true purpose lives.”
